Over the coming months I’m going to create some overpowered tactics for your lower league save. That is not to say the tactics won’t work if you’re a big club but this series we are just concentrating on leagues outside the top divisions. But if you do use it with a top team let us know your results.
About FM DNA’s 4-4-2 Champions Tactic
We are kicking off the lower league tactical masterclass series with a 4-4-2 Champions Tactic for Football Manager 2022. I’m calling it a 4-4-2 but you can call it a 4-1-3-2. The choice is yours.
When it comes to creating tactics my thought process is what works not how I want to play but what works in beating the game if that makes sense. Would you rather play attractive looking football or win games? I’m all about winning games!
GK/Defence
GK is a Sweeper Keeper support and 2 Wing Backs on support with tackle harder and sit narrow because I like to keep it compact. With 2 Ball Playing Defenders with stay wide and tackle harder.
Midfield
Starting with the Roaming Playmaker sitting in front of the defence with move into channels and tackle harder and mark tighter. With the move into channels he can cover the wing backs that are sitting narrow. Then we have a Central Midfielder attack with dribble more and tackle harder. On the left and right we have Wingers on attack with cross aim at near post with tackle harder. Cross aim at the near post is 1 of my favourite instructions if you’re using wingers.
Attack
In attack we have 2 Advanced Forwards on attack with tackle harder. You can’t go wrong with Advanced Forwards.
