In fact, the FM26 winter update contains over 5million changes to not only players and staff, but clubs and competition rules and formats – changing the entire landscape within Football Manager to replicate real-world events over the last 6 months.
Edwin Quintero / 15 / Independiente del Valle (Arsenal August 2027)
Position: AMRC
Best Role: Inside Forward, Inside Winger

In FM26, Edwin & Holger Quintero is two new winter transfer update wonderkids. The 16-year-old Ecuadorian twin brothers is both technical gifted players which is bagged with high potential! Both players was signed by Arsenal earlier in 2025 and the transfer is set to be completed once they reach 18, 15th August 2027.
Edwin Quintero is probably one of the best Ecuadorian wonderkids the country have ever seen! Together with Justin Lerma, and his twin brother Holger Quintero, Edwin is a technical brilliant versatile attacking midfielder. Often used on the right wing, where he can cut inside onto his left foot, Edwin Quintero’s flair, ball control and quickness with the ball has made him into one of the most sought after hot prospects in South America.
A player in the same mould as Lamine Yamal or Max Dowman, Edwin Quintero is a player who can dribble past opponents with ease, and use their quick feet to get past their marker. His unpredictability and creativity with the ball, often liking to use dribbles and feints that makes pundits’ jaw drop, he’s a magician with the ball at his feet – capable of finishing off chances by moving between the lines.
Potential Ability: 87 / 100

Holger Quintero / 15 / Independiente del Valle (Arsenal August 2027)
Position: MC/AMC
Best Role: Advanced Playmaker
Holger Quintero on the other hand, is a more playmaking midfielder. His natural position is as a central midfield where he can use his passing, vision and technique to thread through balls, make killer passes and simply create chances by playing those smart passes that unlocks the entire defence.
The 16-year old is a playmaking maestro who is intelligent on the ball and sees goalscoring opportunities before the attacker has even anticipated the situation.
His cleverness on the ball, maturity and sublime ball control is what differs this Ecuadorian wonderkid with any talents in his age group. No wonder, Arsenal did everything they could to tie up the twin brothers before any of the other big clubs who attracted his interest was able to secure a deal!
In FM26, Holger Quintero’s potential doesn’t really match quite up to Edwin Quintero but still he’s a highly promising midfield wonderkid that could easily develop into an international star. That says alot, considering Independiente del Valle has produced Moises Caicedo, Kendry Paez or Piero Hincapié.
Potential Ability: 83 / 100

Antonio Arena / 16 / AS Roma
Position: ST
Best Role: Channel Forward
If you’re searching for a new wonderkid striker in Football Manager 26 Winter Transfer Update, Italian Antonio Arena is one to watch! The 16-year-old striker was signed by AS Roma towards the end of the summer transfer window 2025 for the bargain fee of €1m. However, his price tag doesn’t quite match his outstanding potential!
Born in Sydney of Italian descent, the prolific striker started his youth career at West Sydney before moving to Italy at the age of 13. At Pescara, Antonio Arena made a quick rise from being a highly talented prospect within their Academy to scoring a goal in Serie C at the age of 16 years and 25 days – less than 2 years after joining the club – becoming the club’s youngest-ever goalscorer.
In FM26, the Italian wonderkid is an interesting prospect, who can easily take up the heritage of being labelled the new Francesco Pio Esposito! Known for his finishing, link-up play, off the ball movement and goalscoring instinct, Antonio Arena is a player I believe we will hear lots more about in the future!
Already 188cm tall, the centre forward has everything you desire in an Italian striker. Good with the ball at his feet, capable of finding the net in aerial situations, fairly strong, fairly quick and smart in his off the ball movements! Frankly, he reminds me a bit between Ciro Immobile and Francesco Camarda – a player who can create chances on his own, drop deep to combine, or move ahead of the defensive line to offer vertical penetration and depth.
In Football Manager 26 Winter Update, Antonio Arena has seen a major upgrade – becoming that significant Channel Forward that can develop into one of the best Italian Centre Forwards in the game. If you’re smart, you’ll do everything in your hands to try to secure a deal for Arena early on – potentially making a huge profit down the line!
Transfer Value: €550K-8M
Potential Ability: 85 / 100

Florian Hellstern / 17 / Stuttgart
Position: GK
Best Role: Goalkeeper (Ball-Playing Goalkeeper)

When Football Manager 26 was released, it came as a big surprise to see how they had rated Florian Hellstern, one of the most promising goalkeepers in Germany. Luckily, they have now rectified their mistake by upgrading Florian Hellstern’s potential greatly!
The now 18-year-old goalkeeper, has been a reliable goalkeeper for the German youth national teams since making his debut for Germany U16 in September 2022. Now playing for Germany U19 and Stuttgart’s second team in 3. Liga, where he has conceded 34 goals in 21 appearances, the German goalkeeper follows in the footsteps of Dennis Seimen – another Stuttgart graduate.
In FM26, Florian Hellstern stands out for his reflexes, one on one abilities and handling. A future goalkeeper capable of playing at teams who likes to play out from the back and plays with a high line, his ability to make important saves and man of the match abilities by keeping a clean sheet makes him a worthy signing, which you can develop and use as first-choice goalkeeper for the next 15 years!
Transfer Value: €17-26M
Potential Ability: 86 / 100

Carlos Macià / 16 / Villarreal
Position: CM (DM, AMC)
Best Role: Deep-Lying Playmaker / Advanced Playmaker

Regardless of your preferred tactical style, or your football philosophy, any sides need a reliable defensive midfielder or playmaker who can create chances from deep through their vision, or use their ball control to retain possession and connect passes from the build-up to entering the final third.
Villarreal’s new versatile midfielder, Carlos Maciá is a stand-out prospect – capable of playing in any position in the middle of the park.
At the age of 17, he has already debuted for Spain U19 and is regularly playing for the B-Team in the Primera Federación. However, in December 2025, Carlos Maciá received his La Liga debut against Getafe in gameweek 15, playing 39 minutes, before also entering the pitch against Barcelona in gameweek 17. Now, he has got 4 La Liga matches under his belt and looks to be the next midfield maestro coming through in Spain – something that is replicated in Football Manager 26!
Apart from having world-class potential, the central midfielder might be the biggest wonderkid you’ve yet to sign on FM26! Born in August 2008, the midfielder is set for a rising career at Villarreal after making his breakthough this season.
Transfer Value: €19M (Minimum Fee Release Clause)
Potential Ability: 90 / 100

Ryunosuke Sato / 18 / Okayama (FC Tokyo)
Position: AML
Best Role: Inside Winger, Inside Forward

Are you searching for the next Son Heung-min in Football Manager, if we head to Japan we’ll be able to find a technical and creative winger in Japan. Ryunosuke Sato is a 18-year-old unpredictable Inside Forward. although he lacks the pace of the South Korean forward, Sato has the work rate, stamina and close control to dominate in the entire attacking third.
Standing at 171cm, the Japanese wonderkid has been given a huge upgrade on the FM26.2 update – from around 72 in potential to 85! That means a significant upgrade in his abilities. At FC Tokyo, the player has often been used as a left Inside Winger, cutting inside onto his strongest right foot. However, in my save he’s fairly two-footed and can play in multiple positions – enabling you to retrain him as a Channel Midfielder, use him in the Free Role or see him flourish in a 3-4-3 system.
Ryunosuke Sato is a very skilled player – especially in one-on-one situations. His low centre of gravity, Agility, Flair and Dribbling technique, sees the player shine in small acres of space, capable of beating the press by carrying the ball and use feints and through balls to advance play into the final third.
In FM26, he will demand quite a lot of wages but has the potential to play at the biggest clubs in Europe. I would believe the player will be a potential hit in Italy, Spain, France or England. All you need to improve is his Pace, Strength and Composure.
From the looks of it, Ryunosuke Sato has everything you want from a player who can develop towards his maximum potential: High Determination and Resolute personality. The question is whether he can settle in in one of Europe’s top clubs or whether he will struggle against more powerful defenders.
Potential Ability: 85 / 100

Leo Lemaitre / 15 / Real Madrid
Position: DC
Best Role: Ball-Playing Defender
If you’re searching for cheap wonderkids in FM26 Winter Transfer Update, poaching talents from Real Madrid’s Academy might be a smart solution. One of the wonderkids receiving a potential rating upgrade at Los Blancos is Leo Lemaitre.
Born in Zaragoza, of French descent, the now 16-year-old central defender is one of the brightest defenders within Real Madrid’s Academy. Standing at 194cm, is a player who can be compared to Dean Huijsen – composed on the ball, smart in his positioning and still decent in aerial situations.
Previously part of Spain U15 and U16 national teams, the young defender has now debuted for France U17, making three appearances with the latest coming in February 2026 against Italy.
In FM26, Leo Lemaitre is a modern defender who excels both in defensive set-pieces and attacking corners due to his jumping reach. Apart from decent tackling, heading, and positioning, he’s also a fairly physical imposing player with great strength for his age – coming around 15 for strength and 16 in heading!
However, when scouting Leo Lemaitre in FM26, keep in mind that he’s still young and should be considered a fairly rough diamond. Give him time, and he will develop!
Transfer Value: €7.5-8M
Potential Ability: 86 / 100

Viktor Bjarki Daðason / 17 / FC København
Position: ST
Best Role: Target Forward, Deep-Lying Forward
As one of the biggest clubs in Scandinavia, FC København’s transfer policy of securing all the best wonderkids and talents within the Nordic countries has caught my attention. From signing Xander Poulsen and Mads Jørgensen, who now plays regularly for Denmark U17, to securing Alexander Odefalk from Sweden, Marek Hamsik’s son, the Danish club has made some smart transfers over the past two seasons, which will definitely boost their finances in the long run.
One of the best signings they have completed is securing Viktor Bjarki Daðason. The Icelandic centre forward, who came from Fram Reykjavik in 2024, is the next talent breaking through at FCK.
The current U19 Icelandic striker became the youngest player to score two goals in the entire UEFA Champions League hirstory, when he bagged two goals against Qairat Almaty on 26 November 2025.
Standing at 193cm, Viktor Daðason is a physical strong forward who excels in aerial situations. Composed with the ball, great work ethic, decent off the ball movement but is probably better at linking up play and using his body frame and physic to shield the ball and combine with his teammates, he’s a future modern Deep-Lying Forward with a goal-scoring instinct.
Just like any Scandinavian’s he got great Team Work. Apart from that he can also dribble past his marker, has great awareness of where to be positioned to tap in goals, all in all drawing some similarities to Erling Haaland despite not having the same kind of explosiveness. What’s certain is that he’s probably one of the best Icelandic wonderkids ever been produced!
In FM26, Viktor Daðason is a wonderful target for clubs in Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, England and/or Italy. Whether it’s correct to label him like the new Conrad Harder or August Priske is difficult to say but he’s a Centre Forward I believe we will hear lots more about in the coming years – perhaps turning heads for his goalscoring abilities as Target Forward for a Champions League side.
Transfer Value: €9.5-12.5M
Potential Ability: 80 / 100

Thiago Pitarch / 17 / Real Madrid
Position: CM
Best Role: Attacking Midfielder, Advanced Playmaker

Another Spanish wonderkid gem is Thiago Pitarch at Real Madrid. The 17-year-old attacking midfielder is already labelled as the new household name at Real Madrid – being spotted by Alvaro Arbeloa. From playing for Juvenil A, Thiago has made his breakthrough in 2026 after making his debut against Getafe before debuting in the UEFA Champions League against Benfica.
The Spanish U20 international, has now made 4 appearances for the first team, showcasing flair, dribbling abilities, close control and sublime passing technique – turning heads with his on the ball skills.
A highly press-resistant midfielder adept at taking on and beating his marker with dribbles and feints. Just like Andres Iniesta back in the days, he makes everything look easy, whether that being creating space for others by keeping the ball glued to his feet as he run past his marker, or thread passes through the lines.
Apart from world-class vision, first touch and agility, the 179cm tall central midfielder has everything you want in a playmaker. On top of that, he’s also fairly versatile, capable of playing both as central midfielder, attacking midfielder, or on the left or right flank.
In saome ways, Thiago is Real Madrid’s new wonder boy. His touch and finishing technique where he curve the ball just like Lamine Yamal makes Thiago’s skills rare for his age! His short and long range passing range in addition to his excellent technique makes Thiago a remarkable signing, if you happen to lure him away from the Spanish capital.
Transfer Value: €2-4M
Potential Ability: 87 / 100

Sama Nomoko / 17 / Barcelona Atlétic
Position: AMR (AML)
Best Role: Winger

A new FM26 wonderkid within the Winter Transfer Update can also be found at Barcelona. Sama Nomoko might be in the shadow of Toni and Guille Fernandez for anyone not following Barcelona closely but the Spanish winger of Malian heritage has arupted as an interesting prospect.
Known for his electric pace, explosiveness of the first few metres and great close control, Barcelona’s new wonderkid Sama Nomoko could be labelled as the next Adama Traoré. Capable of making darting runs behind the defensive line, he’s a counter-attacking threat suited for Hansi Flick’s vertical Tiki-Taka tactic. Decent in crossing the ball, good agility to create space for himself with the ball, and featuring the dribbling skills to beat his marker in one on one situations, the former Spanish U17 international, could very well be the next youth graduate coming through the renown La Masia Academy.
In FM26, Sama Nomoko is a fairly unpolished winger, needing to improving his tactical intelligence, finishing and passing. But with great Flair, Agility and Quickness, alongside decent Off the Ball and Dribbling, he possesses the key attributes to become an international star with the right development path.
Transfer Value: €9-13.5M
Potential Ability: 85 / 100

Yuto Ozeki / 20 / Kawasaki Frontale
Position: DM, MC
Best Role: Box-to-Box Midfielder / Midfield Playmaker

Japan has become a goldmine for finding wonderkids in Football Manager 26. From Kanta Doi to Kota Tawaratsumida, the Asian nation makes it a key nation to scout wonderkids. For the 26.2 update, Yuto Ozeki has seen an upgrade which makes the defensive midfielder a smart transfer!
Capable of playing in 3-4-3 systems, 5-3-2 or a more traditional 4-3-3 formation, the versatile midfielder is a tactical intelligent midfielder with great Teamwork, Work Rate and Determination – all favourable skills for any player who shall dominate in the middle of the park.
Besides being a player who can aid both in the defensive and attacking transition, moving up and down the pitch, Yuto Ozeki is a great playmaker – featuring the Technical skills, passing abilities and Vision to create chances. His off the ball movement, stamina and anticipation are all notable attributes for anyone who shall offer third man runs. As you’ll see this midfielder thrives on vertical penetration!
He has even good ball control and can be that press-resistant midfielder who can take on his marker and get out of pressure with the ball at his feet – most notably through his good dribbling, agility and flair.
With a highly interesting player profile, Yuto Ozeki at Kawasaki Frontale looks like a versatile midfielder who can suit any team and any tactical styles! For less than €10M he is a true wonderkid bargain – enabling you to improve a title-challing squad side with more depth.
Transfer Value: €8-11M
Potential Ability: 85 / 100

Kieran Morrison / 18 / Liverpool
Position: AMR (AML/AMC)
Best Role: Inside Forward / Playmaking Winger

Are you playing in England and is looking for a cheap Inside Winger with great technical abilities to play Premier League football, then look no further than to Kieran Morrison. Born in Manchester, but of Northern Irish descent, this right winger has making some standout performances in the Premier League 2 for the 2025/26 season. So far, he’s scored 13 goals in 16 appearances, made his debut in the FA Cup 25/26 as well as getting an appearance in the EFL Trophy and the Carabao Cup.
The left footed winger who can also operate as an attacking midfielder has already catched the attention of Arne Slot – knocking on the first team’s door with his outstanding goalscoring records.
As a potential Premier League breakthrough player for the end of 2025/26 season, Kieran Morrison is a player who can both create chances and score goals. Capable of playing in any position in the attacking third, he is first and foremost noted for his technical abilities with the ball seemingly glued to his feet as he dribbles past opponents but also feature good passing, balance and vision to be used as a wide playmaker or Advanced Playmaker behind a Centre Forward.
Featuring Flair, Dribbling, Agility, Pace, First Touch and Technique he has everything you desire in your creative wide man. Add his Long shots abilities and Passing and you got yourself a key player for any English top sides for the next 10 years!
Transfer Value: €6.5-8M
Potential Ability: 87 / 100

Mor Talla Ndiaye / 17 / Liverpool
Position: DC
Best Role: Ball-Playing Defender
Speaking of Liverpool wonderkids, I’m excited to see the 17-year-old Senegalese centre-back wonderkid, Mor Talla Ndiaye, added into the game! Previously, the only way you could get him on Football Manager 26 was through the Passion4FM’s NextGen wonderkids database.
Mor Talla Ndiaye is a 189cm tall Central Defender. Despite his height, he’s a good Ball-Playing Defender or Wide Centre-Back who excels in duels. Good Marking and Tackling besides great technical abilities with the ball at his feet makes him into a true modern centre back which fits Liverpool’s style of play.
With a great physical build, a jumping reach that makes him able to compete and shine in aerial situations, alongside passing and positioning to play out from the back, Mor Talla Ndiaye could be compared to Virgil van Dijk for many reasons.
Entering Liverpool this January from Amitié in Senegal, Liverpool attracted the interest of Mor Talla Ndiaye through his great performances for the Senegalese Under-17 national team. As a player who is not afraid to dive into tackles and make those crucial interceptions, the centre back is a difficult player to come up against.
In FM26, Mor Talla Ndiaye has still some development to do, but may be a promising player to watch out for in your next save.
Transfer Value: €1-2.4M
Potential Ability: 81 / 100

João Pedro / 17 / Santos
Position: GK
Best Role: Goalkeeper

Santos’ new wonderkid goalkeeper, João Pedro is probably the most upgraded player within the FM26.2 Winter Transfer Update! From having a potential rating not even good enough to play in Premier League, he’s now one with world-class potential.
The 199cm tall goalkeeper currently playing for Santos U20 was a key figure in Brazil U17’s FIFA U17 World Cup squad. Although saving six penalties out of 13 to help Brazil qualify for the quarter finals, it was not enough to make the team go all the way to the final.
João Pedro’s reach, great reflexes and handling draws similarities to Alisson. His agility, positioning and bravery are all favorable skills for a top goalkeeper but the shot stopper also features the unique trait of excelling in Important Matches on FM26.
At the age of 17, João Pedro might be the next Brazilian goalkeeper to shine in Europe and become a Champions League star in the future, at least if we shall believe the high potential rating, Sports Interactive has given Santos’ new gem!
Transfer Value: €11-16.5M
Potential Ability: 86 / 100

João Borne / 16 / Gremio
Position: AMC
Best Role: Attacking Midfielder, Shadow Striker

The FM26.2 Winter Transfer Update brings many new and upgraded wonderkids for Football Manager 26. Although we could have kept on going, let us finish it off with another Brazilian wonderkid gem: João Borne!
The 16-year-old attacking midfielder playing for Gremio U20 made a significant performance in the Copinha 2026, making 3 assists and scoring 5 goals in 8 appearances. Gremio’s future #10 is what you’d call a generational talent – a Shadow Striker who has natural goalscoring instinct alongside great ball control.
Born in February 2008, João Borne, is a technical gifted player who trhives in pocket of spaces. When receiving the ball between the lines, he’s skilled at quickly changing direction, offering a vertical goal threat by carrying the ball forward before taking advantage of his Long Shots and Finishing to put the ball into the back of the net from the edge of the penalty box.
Like any other Brazilian’s he’s got the Dribbling skills and Agility to excel in 1v1 situations. Although he lacks a bit of Flair in Football Manager 26, he’s fairly unpredictable with the ball seemingly glued to his feet. Apart from having the ability to carry the ball into more dangerous positions, he also has the passing abilities and vision to create chances for others.
His fairly cheap asking price and low wages
Transfer Value: €500K-5M
Minimum Fee Release Clause (Domestic Clubs): €2.8M
Potential Ability: 87 / 100

Raul Kumar / 17 / Istra 1961
Position: DC
Best Role: Ball-Playing Centre-Back

As one of the biggest defender prospects in Croatia, Raul Kumar defenitely deserves your attention! The 190cm tall defender born in Pula, is already attracting the interest from AC Milan and Inter Milan.
So far this season, the Croation wonderkid centre-back has received 12 appearances in the SuperSport HNL, in a side with the lowest average age within the league.
Although he could be recognized as a hidden wonderkid in FM26, Raul Kumar is a player of growing reputation. One I believe we will hear lots more about in the next years to come. The talented centre-back stands out with the ball at his feet. Adept at playing out from the back and playing those long range passes and through balls, his playing style compares to Barcelona’s Pau Cubarsí.
The Ball-Playing Centre-Back oftenly likes to make switches of play and look for passing options higher up the pitch, often out wide, that enables the team to beat the high press by quickly transition the ball over larger distances.
On top of that, Raul Kumar is also a skilled player in defensive situations – making interceptions and tackles. Due to his height, he’s great in aerial situations due to his high jumping reach and great heading abilities.
In FM26, he’s also got great bravery, anticipation, deteermination and strength – being a player who can massively develop into an international star if avoiding injuries. Even though he lacks the current abilities to play first team football in one of the top leagues, he got the potential to develop into a great Premier League player.
Personally, I believe he is better suited to play in Spain, Italy, France or Portugal. For the low asking price of beneath €5Million, he’s one of many cheap wonderkids bargains on FM26.2 update that attracts my interest!
Transfer Value: €550K-5.5M
Potential Ability: 82 / 100

Honorable Mentions:
- Bryan Bugarin (16) – Real Madrid – Attacking Midfielder
- Joshua Nga Kana (16) – Anderlecht – Defensive Midfielder
- Ruan Pablo (17) – Bahia – Left Winger
- Marc Company (16) – Real Madrid – Central Midfielder
- Wael Mohya (17) – Bor. Mönchengladbach – Attacking Midfielder
