What are Wonderkids?
A Football Manager wonderkid is a media description term used to describe players, at the age of 20 or beneath (born after 01.07.2002 in FM24), with the potential to become future world-class players These so-called wonderkids possess a mix of great current abilities, high potential and high reputation.
In Football Manager, the media will describe a player as a wonderkid if he either got a current ability of more than 135 or home reputation of more than 5750 regardless of their potential ability. In fact, he could have a CA of 135 and PA of 136 and still be labelled as wonderkid.
In FM terms, it’s a label used to describe young players where his current abilities are considerable for his age and close in on his potential ability level. The media describes them as wonderkid due to their immense quality relating to their age. Their player attributes and performance excels compared to more experienced players and could be a first-team option.

However, at Passion4FM.com we classify a FM24 wonderkid as a players with an higher potential ability than 135, or with a minimum potential ability range of -75.

The Potential Ability Range
Whilst a players current ability aka CA is fixed, the potential ability can either be fixed or within a negative PA range from -1 to -10. A negative PA means a players potential will vary from save to save, in difference to a fixed PA which will remain static regardless of the number of saves you start.
The potential ability range in Football Manager for wonderkids is classified through seven different tiers.
PA -10 : 170-200
PA -95 : 160-190
PA -9 : 150-180
PA -85 : 140-170
PA -8 : 130-160
PA -75 : 120-150
PA -7: 110-140

A gold five star rating means the player will have a potential ability somewhere between 170 and 200.
A silver five star rating means the player will have a potential ability rating between 160 and 190.
A silver five star rating means the player will have a potential ability rating between 150 and 180.
A silver five star rating means the player will have a potential ability rating between 140 and 170.
