The 2016/17 season is remembered as one of the greatest in Real Madrid’s history. Under Zinedine Zidane, Los Blancos won a historic treble, lifting La Liga, the UEFA Champions League, and the Club World Cup. At the heart of this success was Zidane’s perfectly balanced 4-3-3 tactical system. Today I’ll be showcasing my attempt at recreating Zinedine Zidane 2016/17 Real Madrid tactic in Football Manager 26!
This FM26 tactic is for all you Madridistas who wants to play like Real Madrid under Zinedine Zidane in the iconic 2016/17 season where Los Galacticos was at its height – finishing the season as one of the most successful campaigns in the club’s history, which says alot for a club who had won the Champions League 11 times until that point. With their iconic 4-3-3 tactic, which was the start of a glorious period for Real Madrid, Zinedine Zidane’s tactic actually won the UEFA Champions League three consecutive times – a triumph we’ll probably never experience again!

Zidane’s 4-3-3 Tactics at Real Madrid 16/17
Zidane’s approach wasn’t about complex positional play or aggressive pressing. Instead, it focused on balance, adaptability, and elite player freedom. The 4-3-3 allowed Real Madrid to control games, defend compactly, and strike with devastating efficiency on transitions.
