About the FM26 Hawkeye 4-3-3 Meta Tactic
The FM26 Hawkeye 4-3-3 tactic is build upon both meta team instructions and meta player roles. Thoroughly tested from Farnborough in the bottom of the English pyramid to Spanish giant Real Madrid who are perfect for a 4-3-3 tactic on FM26!
This tactic is a true goals-galore tactic! 123 goals scored by Real Madrid, or a 100 goal difference as it only conceded 23 goals – keeping a clean sheet on 21 occasions. At Liverpool, it scored 107 goals and kept a clean sheet 17 times. Even at Farnborough Town, it scored over 100 goals – proving both how attacking this tactic is, as well as how very well built!
Formations & Shape

In this FM26 Meta Tactic you’ll discover that I’ve created a system using three forwards up front – two Channel Forwards on either side of a Centre Forward. Whilst these three strikers will move into channels, you’ll have two Advanced Playmakers moving between the lines and making progressive passes and through balls behind the front line.
To offer width, this 4-3-3 system uses Playmaking Wing-Back – both asked to Stay Wider, whilst the Defensive Midfielder will hold position in front of the two Ball Playing Centre-Backs. What was a traditional narrow 4-3-3 shape on paper will then become a 2-3-2-3 formation – mimicking the historic WM shape in the defensive third but could be better described as Vittorio Pozzo’s WW system aka Il Metodo!
With two PWB moving inside into DM position, the 2-3 shape protects brilliantly against counter-attacks. At the same time, you’ll be playing with a box-midfield in possession – having two PWB behind two AP. These players will offer creativity from deep and feed the front three with key passes, wonderful through balls and create goalscoring chances they can simply put into the net!
Out of possession, you’ll play with a rather balanced 4-3-2-1 system where the two outer forwards become wingers – enabling you to defend the flanks. The two AP will behave as Pressing Defensive Midfielders out of possession – trying to win back the ball in the middle of the pitch and engage the opponent to make mistakes in their progression phase.

What you’ll notice is that you’ll be using a highly compact defensive shape – playing with a 4-5-1 shape when the ball enters your defensive third. On either side of the defense, the Pressing Full-Back’s will squeeze play and limit the opposing wingers time on the ball – reducing the effect of those wide players who simply runs with the ball from one part of the pitch to the other.
What’s apparent is that there is really little use of player instructions – meaning the roles will behave as they are asked to do within the match engine.
Team Instructions of Hawkeye 4-3-3 Tactic
In Possession

As mentioned earlier, this tactic incorporates several of meta team instructions to get the most out of this tactic.
In possession you’ll be playing with shorter passes made at a ‘Much Higher Tempo’. Width will be ‘Narrower’ to faciliate better ball progression and ensure those short passes can be connected. You’ll instruct your players to ‘Dribble More’ – one of the major flaws within the FM26.1 match engine as it’s SO overpowered!
Out of Possession

At the same time, it applies the Gegenpress tactical style meaning you’ll ask your team to take advantage of Counter-Attacks and Pass Into Space to increase the number of runs into space and try to come to higher goalscoring chances by using speed of movement and catch the opposition’s defensive block off guard by trying to take advantage of spaces that arupts.
You’ll also be channeling play down the flanks – exploiting the weakness of the full-back’s reaction and positioning out of possession, as well as their inability to fully defend against players who dribbles.
Overall, this attacking tactic is really powerful. One you should try out within your save to check out how it does for you!
At the time of writing, I believe this is the best performing tactic we’ve ever been able to showcase at Passion4FM, so we hope you’ll enjoy this outstanding 4-3-3 meta tactic on Football Manager 26!
