There’s been a major rise in quality amongst Football Manager Content Creators and Youtubers throughout the FM21 cycle. Today we’d like to promote a brilliant new series from @AndrewHoeller who are just started his FM21 Benfica Challenge as he tries to lift the curse of Bela Guttman!

What’s the Bela Guttman Challenge?
When legendary manager Bela Guttmann was refused a modest pay rise at Benfica back in the 1960s, he put a curse on the club to not win the European Cup for 100 years. Eight European finals later, the curse is still holding up. Apparently, even the great Eusebio praying at Bela’s grave couldn’t break the curse… Can you be the one to break it? Benfica, or SLB, has around a dozen wonderkids, a steady academy, and a top hitman in Darwin Nunez, finances though are a little tight so you have to increase revenue whilst competing against the big boys in the Champions League!
My journey so far………
So the challenge seems simple enough.. win a European title and lift the curse… oh if it was only that simple, I originally took on this challenge in FM20 where I found it on an FM challenges website., little did I know that it was going to be so tough, I attempted to complete the challenge 4 times.. so that is 4 seasons in FM20 where I think I came as close as a European semi-final (which I lost). So I am back in FM21 taking on the challenge again determined this time to complete it before FM22 is released. I challenge you to try and lift the curse.
In terms of my progression so far it has been tough as expected we are performing well in the league and after what looked like a pretty tough Champions League group we have progressed to the knockout stages so the dream is still alive in Season 1, check out the series to see how we are getting on, on my YouTube channel.
Oh, and by the way, because the board wants you to win the league every season you are more than likely competing in the Champions League every season which just adds even more pressure and competitiveness to the challenge. Good Luck!!
