Sandry /17/ Santos

Sandry - Brazilian wonderkid playmaker

Passion4FM Recommendation Rating:

Santos Futebol Clube is a wonderkids powerhouse. Frankly, 50% of this list could have been of Santos Academy products!

Simply scout their academy and you’ll find a number of great talents within their ranks. One of the most promising Santos talents that have caught my attention is Sandry – a defensive midfielder who draws similarities to one of my boyhood favourites – the one and only Dunga!

Sandry is capable to utilize both the deep-lying playmaker or the segundo volante role. He got the ability to play as a single holding playmaker or a pivot in a 4-2-2-2 DM AM. What makes Sandry so unique is his great levels of flair and all-round attributes – meaning you can re-train him to a Libero, a Mezzala or Advanced playmaker – depending on your needs!

The Brazilian playmaker has his force in possession of the ball and can be a great player for any teams building out from the back. With his vision and great passing range, he’s able to break open opposition lines with pin-pointed through balls between the lines. With his deep positioning, he will be able to use his vision and passing technique to create chances and feed the attacking unit with accurate passes.

It’s not only in possession he excels. He also features great capabilities in the hunt for possession. His work rate, determination and aggression will be key to regain possession effectively. His intelligence comes to the force both when intercepting passes, mark opponents as well in possession as he’s capable of pulling off unexpected passes.

Sandry’s teamwork and consistency will make him a reliable player for the years to come – either you use him in his best role or take advantage of his versatility.

Key Strengths: Anticipation, Decisions, Teamwork

Estimated Asking Price: €20-30Mill

Lázaro /18/ Flamengo

FM21 Brazilian Attacking Midfielder wonderkid Lazaro

Passion4FM Recommendation Rating:

What summarizes this list of Brazilian wonderkids in FM21 is technically gifted talents with flair.

Lázaro Vinícius Marques is an attacking midfielder or second forward who got the Brazilian DNA. Able to play as a False Nine who comes deep and sets pace with the ball towards the retreating back line or support the more attacking players with pinpointed through balls and runs into the penalty box, Lázaro is your man.

Standing out for his dribbling, agility and flair, the versatile forward can be utilized in a number of roles; either more focused at playmaking or direct runs. Despite being a rather skilful player, his main weakness is his injury susceptibility and right only preferred foot.

Key Strengths: Dribbling, Technique, Flair

Estimated Asking Price: €10Mill

Brenner /20/ Flamengo

Brazilian striker wonderkid Brenner

Passion4FM Recommendation Rating:

From the Academy that brought us Vinícius Júnior, a new Brazilian striker phenomenon is on the rise! Brenner Souza da Silva is a typical out-and-out striker. The right-footed forward has had a magnificent 2020 season for Flamengo. With 17 goals in 30 appearances, he might be the new Ronaldo 9.

The Advanced forward stands out for his abilities in one on one situations and converting chances into goals. Using his quickness and dribbling technique he’s able to cause chaos for opposing defenders moving the ball into advanced areas. His smartness in movements and ability to get free in the tiniest areas will make him dangerous in front of and inside the penalty box.

His weakest area of the game is in his aerial presence. At only 175cm tall you can utilize him with a target man or deep-lying forward who’s better in the air and can feed Brenner with through balls and cut-backs.

Brenner is a destined penalty taker and might be a potential top scorer for years to come!

Key Strengths: Dribbling, Finishing, Agility

Estimated Asking Price: €15-18Mill

Gabriel Menino /19/ Palmeiras

Brazilian wingback Gabriel Menino

Passion4FM Recommendation Rating:

Since the days of Nilton Santos and Djalma Santos ruled each flank guiding Brazil to three World cup trophies in under 10 years, Brazilian wingbacks has set the standard for the modern day wingbacks.

As the first signing in Football Manager 2021, Gabriel Menino entered the doors in my Benfica save. A highly versatile player who can play both as a ball winning midfielder, deep-lying playmaker, fullback, wingback or complete wingback which I’ll be using him in.

Standing out for his work rate and determination to regain possession and pressure the opponent at all cause to make mistakes, Gabriel Menino also got the quickness and athleticism to cover the entire right flank – running up and down throughout the full 90 minutes.

In possession, he’s capable of retaining possession and get quick control of it despite under pressure. His visions and crossing abilities also make him a great threat in the final third.

Key Strengths: Tackling, Bravery, Teamwork, Work Rate

Estimated Asking Price: €10Mill

Gabriel Veron /17/ Palmeiras

Gabriel Veron - Football Manager 2021 Wonderkids

Passion4FM Recommendation Rating:

Since being awarded the adidas Golden Ball award in the U17 World Cup 2019, Gabriel Veron has made a huge impact in the Brasileirão Serie A. 8 goals in 26 appearances since his debut ranking up 3 assists, Palmeiras got a superstar in the making within their ranks.

Gabriel Veron can be an Inverted Winger, Inside Forward or even a wide Trequartista. He’ll able to play at either flank but by letting him cut inside from the left wing his right foot will come into better effect.

He excels in one on one situations using his quickness and repertoire of dribbles to get past his marker. He got great abilities to setup chances from crosses or use his vision and passing technique to create chances from the edge of the box or within the half-space.

His main weakness is his accuracy at long shots so putting some additional focus on that department might make him to a bigger threat – either it’s creating chances and assisting the forwards or putting the ball into the back of the net himself.

Key Strengths: Dribbling, Acceleration, Pace, Flair

Estimated Asking Price: €25-35Mill

Renyer /17/ Santos

Renyer - inverted winger wondekid FM21

Passion4FM Recommendation Rating:

Instead of focusing on Marcos Leonardo, Lucas Lourenco or Kaiky I want to recommend a cheap Brazilian wonderkid that is fairly similar in the mould of Savio. Renyer is a left footed inverted winger who excels in one on one situations. With acceleration and pace, Renyer is a direct threat to any retreating defenders. Despite he’s fairly unpolished and might need to work on his off the ball movement, vision and composure in the final third, Renyer got immense potential to reach the levels of former teammate Rodrygo.

Key Strengths: Dribbling, Technique, Agility, Passing

Estimated Asking Price: €800K-1Mill

Diego Rosa /18/ Gremio

Brazilian Segundo Volante - Diego Rosa

Passion4FM Recommendation Rating:

If you’re looking for a younger version of Sandry, then look no further! Gremio’s 17 year old Diego Rosa is a natural ball-winning midfielder or segundo volante. Suitable to play as a lone holding defensive midfielder or in partnership with an anchor man, the young ball winning midfielder is yet to make his official Brasileirão debut.

He stands out for his work rate, bravery and aggression as he aims to win the battle of possession in the middle of the park by closing down and give opponents not a second to make a decision.

In possession, the talented midfielder will get forward whenever possible and provide a threat from long with his powerful shots from distance. His unpredictability from outside the penalty box may provide a great number of points with his long shots.

Hidden Attributes: Consistency and Versatility

Key Strengths: Long shots, Bravery, Work Rate Flair

Estimated Asking Price: €25-35Mill

Peglow /18/ Internacional

Peglow - the next Brazilian shadow striker

Passion4FM Recommendation Rating:

No ranking of Brazilian players without including a typical poacher in a similar mould of Bebeto! Here I could have put attention to Kaio Jorge from Santos, but instead, I wanted to showcase Peglow – a bit cheaper alternative.

Peglow was part of the Under-17 Brazil squad who won the FIFA U17 World Cup in 2019 and featured in all their tournament matches. Scoring the first two goals for Brazil in the tournament against Canada U17 as a second striker, Peglow follows in the footsteps of Bebeto. You can even draw similarities to a young Zico.

Standing at 175cm, the young advanced playmaker or shadow striker possesses decent technical skills to create space for others by dribbling and running with the ball using his agility and acceleration to get behind his markers. Despite having the ability to set up his teammates for chances by using his vision and passing technique, Peglow also features the capabilities to link up play before moving into the box. Either you like to use him in a strikerless system or behind a supporting false nine, the Brazilian shadow striker’s abilities inside the box can not go unnoticed.

By learning the trait ‘Tries Tricks’ you’ll get a player who can draw attention onto himself before moving the ball past anyone who tries to close him down – using his quickness and flair to play one-twos advancing play into the penalty box with smart movements and quick passes.

Key Strengths: Dribbling, Finishing, Flair, Agility

Estimated Asking Price: €3-6Mill

Talles Magno /18/ Vasco da Gama

Talles Magno - the next Neymar

Passion4FM Recommendation Rating:

Vasco da Gama is no stranger at producing world-class players. From Romario in the 80s to more recently Philippe Coutinho, the club based in Rio de Janeiro has one of the biggest current Brazilian wonderkids in their ranks. Talles Magno, who are dubbed the new Neymar, is one of the hot prospects of the Brasileirão Assaí.

The eighteen-year-old left-footed inverted winger can also play up front as a forward or a shadow striker. Personally, I find him best used in the inverting winger role giving full licence to set the pace directly at the opposing defenders to draw them out of position and create space for the forward.

Talles Magno stands out for his acceleration, sublime technique and dribbling. His unpredictability and agility make him excel in one on one situations. Despite lacking a bit in his ability to create chances and use his vision to play in others, the eighteen year old Brazilian wonderkid has many years to perfect his game but got the potential to be one of the best inverted wingers from Brazil next to Rodrigo and Vinícius Junior.

Key Strengths: Dribbling, Technique, Flair

Estimated Asking Price: €25-35Mill

Sávio /16/ At. Mineiro

FM21 Brazilian wonderkid Savio

Passion4FM Recommendation Rating:

As always I’ve saved the best for last!

Savio Moreira de Oliveira is the latest teenage star to emerge in Brazil. He caught my attention in the research for potential FM21 wonderkids with his placed shots, energy and driving runs cutting inside from the right flank.

Since then he has received his official Brasileirão Serie A debut against Atlético Clube Goianiense at the September 20th 2020 and has ranked up 125 minutes over six appearances for Atletico Mineiro first team. The Brazilian Under-17 national team player is one of the biggest Brazilian wonderkids in Football Manager 2021.

With unfulfilled potential, Savio’s quickness and dribbling already stand out at the age of 16. His first touch and technique make him able to get control of the ball in the most pressurized situations. By giving him the freedom to roam he’ll be able to take advantage of his vision and flair to create chances for the forwards, either it’s by crossing the ball towards the far post or play through balls in between the channels.

Key Strengths: Flair, Pace, First Touch, Technique

Estimated Asking Price: €Mill
