1. FC Nordsjælland – Denmark
FC Nordsjælland is a club that was founded in July 2003. The team plays in Farum, which is located in the suburbs of Copenhagen.
The home games are played at the Right to Dream Park and the club owns impressive training facilities as well as a well-established youth recruitment network.
The team is currently playing in the Danish Superliga, which they last won in 2012.
Club Vision
- Develop the club’s youth system
- Play possession football
- Sign players under the age of 22
- Play attacking football
Transfer Budget / Wage Budget: £1.15M/9.8k(To use)
*Future transfer*– Damsgaard – Joins Sampdoria 01/07/20 for £5.75M
Why should I take on this challenge?
This is a great chance to build a young team and take on the top teams in the league once again. FC Copenhagen has been mostly leading for a long time in Denmark.
It has been well documented that you never win anything with kids. Why not stick to the club vision and attempt to win the league with a team by signing players under the age of 22?
This challenge is for those who make use of the development system and produce youth. The challenge will be even harder when your best talent is being poached by the big clubs in Europe. Your task is to keep developing your youngster while also being smart in the transfer window by looking for bargains.
Take this great club on and lead them to glory!
FC Inter Turku – Finland
Founded in 1990, FC Inter started off their climb to the top soon after. After two consecutive promotions the team established itself in second division in 1994, before managing promotion to the Veikkausliiga (top division) in 1996.
Since then they’ve been an established Finnish premier division club. They last won the league in 2008 and since have been a yo-yo team in the league, although this season they are in the Europa League.
The club has good training facilities which is at par for this league.
Club Vision
- Work within the wage budget
- Top half finish first season
- Reach the quarter-final of the Finish Cup
- Work towards being the most reputable club in the country
Transfer Budget / Wage Budget: £21.53k/£670 (To use)
Why should I take on this challenge?
Although the finances are not the best, the club has some good youth potential in the reserves/youth team.
Why not have fun in Europe with no high pressure to progress too much in the first season, whilst you build a team to eventually take on the rest!
This is a challenge for someone who can work to a strict budget and work on limited resources. This save will put your skills to the test, especially if you start off with no coaching badges and reputation as Sunday League Footballer.
FH – Iceland
Founded in 1929 as a gymnastics club, FH has since moved into other sports. FH was promoted to the first division in football for the first time in 1975.
FH, formally is known as (Fimleikafélag Hafnarfjarðar), is one of the top clubs in Iceland. They dominated for many years but in the last couple of years, they have dropped off and also missed out on Europe.
Although all the other facilities are not the best, they do have great youth facilities, which will help the club’s growth going forward.
Club Vision
- Sign players under 23 for the first team
- Work within the wage budget
- Minimum 2-year contracts for the first team
- Top half finish for the first season
Transfer Budget / Wage Budget: £0k / £30 (To use)
Why should I take on this challenge?
The transfer budget has pretty much nothing to offer however, the good news is they have up to 4 players in the youth team with 5 star potential.
Select this club for a typical youth development challenge where you aim to build a squad of home grown players while you work on very limited resources and use youth to progress the team to whole other levels – perhaps even taking on Europe with storm!
This won’t be an easy ride but will you have what it takes to bring back the glory days with ‘only kids’?
Fredrikstad FK – Norway
Fredrikstad Fotballklubb has won nine league trophies and 11 cup triumphs. Holding a second place on the Norwegian honour list with only Rosenborg won more silverware in Norway.
The club now plays in the 2nd division (third tier) and is one of the most ambitious clubs at their level. After years of severe financial troubles the club has put focus on building a football philosophy and a a club culture the city can be proud of. Their aim to return to the top division as soon as possible is realistic, but requires to succeed in the transfer market.
The club has average training and youth facilities which is good considering the team’s current position.
Club Vision
- Do not sign players over the age of 30
- Win promotion in the first season
- Reach the 3rdround of the Norwegian cup
Transfer Budget / Wage budget: £84.88k/£1.36k (To use)
Why should I take on this challenge?
The budget is fairly decent for a club that is in the lower divisions.
This is for those who enjoys a typical ‘Return to Glory’ challenge.
This will be a tough challenge. Managing in the lower leagues of Norway will certainly put your test to the skills as there are high competitiveness, particularity in the 1st division.
Can you bring back the winning days where Fredrikstad dominated in the Norwegian top division?
IFK Göteborg – Sweden
Besides the two UEFA Cup titles, IFK Göteborg has won 18 Swedish championship titles, second-most in Swedish football after Malmö FF. It even has the third most national cup titles with seven.
They last won the league in 2007 and with their 11th place finish of last year, a total rebuild is needed.
Since their last champions trophy, the club has been on a decline and the likes of Malmö have taken over.
The club has great training facilities and good youth facilities.
Club Vision
- Work within the wage budget
- Reach the semi-final in the Swedish cup
- Top half finish for the first season
Transfer Budget / Wage budget: £322k/£2.1k (To use)
Why should I take on this challenge?
A club in a real need for a rebuild. It’s a great club that doesn’t deserve mid-table finishes. It’s another ‘Return to Glory’ type of save as your aim will be to dominate Sweden once again.
Can you bring back the good days here and knock Malmö, the rivals off top spot and have IFK Göteburg dominate Sweden again?
For hardcore managers:
Why not take the challenge to the next level and set yourself the below guidelines when managing any of the above clubs:
- Only sign players of the same nationality
- Have one player in your matchday squad who is under the age of 18
