Football Manager 25 is the first edition in a new era of Sports Interactive’s Football Manager series. A host of major changes both to the interface and design will make FM25 feel like a brand new game.

The changes coming to FM25 is one of the biggest since 2005, when the game left the former game publisher, Eidos Interactive, and was rebranded into Football Manager, or when the 3D match engine was introduced to Football Manager 2009. For the last few years, the game has gone from strength to strength. FM24 was played by 12 million players – a huge increase from the 6 million players for FM23.

To quote Studio Director Miles Jacobson in an interview with Eurogamer.net; “FM25 is not a continuation of FM24. FM25 is the ‘next generation of Football Manager’, and is the first chapter in the new book of Football Manager, and will get expanded on. If people are expecting FM24 plus, plus, plus, they are not going to be getting that with FM25.“

When is the Football Manager 25 release?

The Football Manager 25 release date was delayed until March 2025 on the 10th October 2024.

Initally the release of FM25 was set to November 26th, 2024 as unveiled by the developers Sports Interactive in the announced FM25 trailer, which you can watch below, however they have made the tough decision to postpone the launch of FM25 as the current build didn’t reach their standards nor the quality the fans expects of a Football Manager release.

Further news about upcoming features and game upgrades will arrive in January 2025 rather than in November 2024.

Normally, the new game has been released in the beginning of November. Football Manager 2024 was launched November 6th, 2024, while FM23 debuted November 6th, 2024. However, with the development of Football Manager 25, Sports Interactive has experienced some issues with their move to the Unity Graphics engine – resulting in the delay of Football Manager 25 to be launched outside their usual timeframe.
